These are dark times, there is no denying. UK is still facing a lockdown due to COVID-19 and I have seen so many people trying to adapt to their new routine. Maintaining a healthy and awesome looking beard while you are stuck at home is not an easy task, especially if you normally go to a barbershop for that. A bearded man shows more credibility and seriousness (good point for video conferences at home), but it’s no use having a beard and not having the essential care for it to show your own style. The use of the beard has undergone many changes throughout the ages, but let’s face it, it has never gone out of style. Today I want to share here how you can take care of your dear friend during this quarantine time.
A beard has this gift of radically transform a boy into a man and even for those who have a slight beard, it is necessary some care. Just like hair, daily cleaning is also required to keep a nice beard. Using neutral shampoo is a great first start, especially for short beards (1). It does not irritate the skin and keeps the hair firm. Conditioners give shine and softness as well, however, you should use them moderately to not have an oily beard. Also avoid getting your hands on your beard, especially if you have a long one with thick hair (2). The sweat of the hands usually makes it more oily, with ingrown hairs and the appearance of dirty. For this I advise you to use a small thin comb and find the first mirror to help you fix it. Some people prefer a more messy beard, a bit irregular / shredded, but it does not mean that it should be less treated. Long beards tend to be more oily, and in some cases, dandruff may appear (3). In this case, it is well recommended to seek a dermatologist for the use of medicine to help combat seborrheic dermatitis. Having a great appearance is a daily job and it must be followed strictly. It is a fact that not every beard matches the shape of a person’s face, for this it is necessary to have a good sense of size and shape. Maintenance helps a lot in choosing your type of beard. The more you adjust, the better.

2. Triangle & Square Face ▸ Fuller beard to round the face
3. Oval & Round Face ▸ Contrast moustache+ trimmed to give or a long tick beard. Both styles give a better dimension on the sides.
There are several models of beard for each type of face, the important thing is that it never goes out of style, so it is necessary that you have kept a small machine to level the size you want.
