Day 1 of SPFW N45

Here we go for another SPFW 45 – CREATIVE EXPLOSION. This event in Brazil is the favorite of fashion designers, bloggers and it has the participation of major brands in the fashion scene. In this edition of the event we have a larger team to disclose every detail of the fashion shows that will feature men’s pieces.

Água de Coco started the season with a fashion show that will be marked in the history of the brand. We could see an increase in the offer of pieces that expands much more than beach fashion, expanding its diversity. Anitta (a Brazilian singer) opened the fashion show wearing a brand new outfit of the collection and with a presentation a little more reserved than we are used to seeing in her shows, showing that she is an eclectic artist and adapts to the environment. She started singing the classic, “Isto aqui, o que é” by Ary Barroso and surprised everyone with her spontaneity and professionalism.

Right at the beginning we could see how the brand cares about every detail from the button of the shirt to the shoe. And the big point is that the brand is going through an international expansion. In 2017 it launched stores in the USA and in 2018 a store in Portugal. Every detail has to be thoroughly positioned and reassessed. The new collection has the creative direction of Liana Thomaz and Styling by Renato Thomaz. They wanted to convey an image of Brazil nowadays, fleeing the cliché and showing the strength that the Brazilian has to change the reality of your own country.

Among the pieces, focus on the moss green which is a strong transition colour, since Água de Coco also seeks to be represented as a lifestyle brand that can be used in various environments. Bicoloured shirts and pantalones make allusion to the more formal environments at the city. At the same time we could also see pieces with mustard yellow, a bright colour that refers to the Brazilian people: relaxed, optimistic and cheerful. I love the strings on the jackets and shorts. It is interesting to see how they adapt to the movement of those who wear them, giving a modern and jovial look to the outfit. It looks fantastic!

The Ponto Firme Project arrived at the runways of the SPFW in the second fashion show with an aesthetic based on peripheral reality. Directed by Gustavo Silvestre and Styling by Erika Palomino, the project aims to change the reality of inmates of the male penitentiary Desembargador Adriano Marrey in Guarulhos – São Paulo – Brazil. The main creative source used is crochet. The pieces cannot be commercialized for the time being, however, the intention is to contribute to a more humanized formation of those involved and to project in their productions a source of income in the near future. It is the fashion as a fresh start for several families in 2018.

A total of 45 outfits were exhibited inspired by the reality of inmates. Some pieces were produced with a wider modeling that reminds a lot of the hip-hop style, the kind of music they usually listen to. Other fairer ones with lines and transparencies transmit the feeling that they are close to the cells. Focus on the jackets with plush toys which, in my opinion, represents the nostalgia of many parents who are far away from their children. Other models wore pants and shirts in the same shades as the uniforms worn by the integrates of the project in the penitentiary, dreaming of the long-awaited freedom.
The first day was marked by a lot of color. The brands worried and wanted to show how the reality of Brazil is and turning it into art and fashion. We will cover the next few days and share everything here with you. Thanks again to all of you who take the time to join us.
